Singapore Travel Guide

Although Singapore is a small country it has a truly international atmosphere with the warmth and friendliness of Asia. Small indeed, but in there you can find every attraction or a place of interest you want to see. The very first thing that you see when you get off the plane and dive into the maze of small streets and shops of any city in Singapore is its rich ethnic, cultural and historical heritage through the sights and sounds of bustling ethnic enclaves and the civic district. Along the streets of Chinatown, Kampong Glam and Little India, religious monuments nestle among quaint shop houses. Despite its outlook at first, at night you can feel the real heartbeat of Singapore. The discos rock with the latest hits, the clubs play all your favourite tunes, you can boogie to live music on Bugis Street, or you can be a star for the night at one of Singapore's popular karaoke lounges. Along with the lively and wild nightlife, Singapore offers sports of all sorts. Hire a sailboard at the East Coast Parkway, or bike along the 8 km track. Swim at a sandy beach, feast on seafood at a clutch of nearby restaurants, or try your hand at kite flying. Whatever you wish, your desire will be satisfied and you will be more than pleased! You need to relax for a while? Of course you do, and the best thing to do is to catch a ferry to the outlying islands of St John's and Kusu, drop into the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. This is an extensive nature reserve which covers much of the Bukit Timah Mountain, and is the only remaining place where primary rainforest still exists on the island. Thrilling, isn’t it? Or if you want, you can play a round of golf, or brush up on your tennis at the hotel courts or nearby public facilities. No matter your mood or intentions, everything you would ever want to do is there; you just have to find it. Did we mention the magnificent Sentosa Island? Well, apart from the superb beaches, this island offers two golf courses, swimming lagoons, and an Asian village featuring ethnic foods, arts and crafts from all over the region, plus thrilling rides. There are also museums highlighting maritime history and Singapore's early days, including the years of World War II. In addition, Sentosa offers two resort hotels, wonderful underwater sights in its walk through oceanarium at Underwater World, a museum featuring rare stones, a dancing fountain, water sports, nature trails and an historical fort. What more to wish for? For many visitors, Singapore is synonymous with the famous Raffles Hotel, formerly the haunt of royalty, film stars and famous authors, and now beautifully restored to her former glory. For those who prefer to get away from the madding crowd and commune with nature, the beautiful tropical Botanic Gardens sprawl over 52 hectares close to the city centre and includes the National Orchid collection with over 3000 types of orchids growing. Tree-studded reserves abound in Singapore, including the lush Bukit Timah Nature Reserve with its primary rainforest. Add beach side parks and unspoilt reservoir belts, and it's easy to see why Singapore is known for its clean, green, tropical environment. And last but definitely not least – the Singapore Zoological Gardens and its Night Safari, allow people from all over the world to explore Asian, African and South American habitats at night, without any visible barriers between guests and the wild animals. Well, what a rush of adrenaline this is! You see, plenty to do, plenty to observe and plenty to remember. Wouldn’t it be the most magnificent time of your life?
