Let's face it New York City has it all! From Historic landmarks to Broadway theaters to hundreds of museums. Attractions are everywhere! As this is the City with so many landmarks it is hard to know where to start. And one of the hundreds of attractions is definitely the Times Square. Its history is very interesting...When the New York Times erected a new building on 43rd Street at the turn of the 20th century; the neighborhood took on the name "Times Square." Decade later, theater, vaudeville and cabaret migrated to the streets nearby, attracting much tourism by the 1920s. But the market crash of 1929 led to a sharp decline in theater attendance and to the transformation of performance halls into cheap "grinder" houses that screened sexually explicit films. In the early 1980s, the city made major efforts to restore the neighborhood to its former, more wholesome, glory. Now it is the site of the most famous New Year’s Eve countdown in the world.
Another "a must see" attraction in The Big Apple as New York is also known is undoubtedly the Statue of Liberty. Visit it as well as the Ellis Island Immigration Museum, both only a short ferry ride from Battery Park. The Statue of Liberty, America's symbol of freedom carries her torch proudly as she overlooks New York Harbor and welcomes millions of visitors a year. And don't miss the historic halls and galleries at Ellis Island, where more than 12 million immigrants first entered America.
Chicago - another city you should visit without second thoughts. The reason? Well, pretty much like New York, Chicago has it all: the busiest airports, the best convention centers, a strong business base, world-class entertainment, and it is also a dynamic and captivating city.
Always at the top of everyone's list of favorite travel destinations, San Francisco offers a remarkable number of cultural attractions and world famous landmarks set against a background of extraordinary natural beauty.
Fascinated by the famous prison off the coast of San Francisco? Here are some fun facts: Alcatraz is believed to be the only Federal prison that touted its hot showers – a luxury meant to prevent prisoners from acclimating to cold water (which could ease the shock of an escape through the icy water of San Francisco Bay). Note that the island was named for the Spanish word for “pelican” – which is especially appropriate now that it is (at least partially) a sanctuary for birds.
